Most campgrounds and hotels operate without following environmental regulations, and their . Participants of Pure Vacation, one of Lake Baikal's most famous environmental projects, have collected 10,000 bags of trash and sent tons for recycling during the ten years of its existence.
Every month, thousands of volunteers clean up the Baikal coast, but the flow of garbage never moible number data stops. By 2020, the Ministry of Natural Resources hopes to increase the number of tourists in protected areas (Special Reserves) from 10,000 to 10,000.
